Mood Ring opens with the aptly-titled “Blissed”, in which a bell-like drone is accented by choir-like voices that seem to invite the listener to float away on a cloud while at the same time lamenting the sadness of something lost long ago. This theme is carried into the next selection, “Melancholia”, a slow grinding drone that hints at a darkness descending. “Snow Day” presents a slowly-shifting note cycle accented by subtle percussion patterns and garbled voice-like sounds that make the listening experience feel a bit like overhearing some kind of other-worldly communications transmission. “Spelunker” moves along on a rhythm that sounds a bit like an overloaded electrical transformer while a variety of other interesting sound patterns weave their way through the selection.
